Rebrand and Advertising

This brief was to carry out a partial rebrand for Act Write Entertainment (AWE), a Sydney based theatre company featuring Don Battee.

The client requested that the 'stickman' be retained but the logo could otherwise be changed.

I began the process with thumbnail sketches and after receiving feedback from the client and others chose a design. From this I tested various fonts and layouts for the logo.

The brief included the request for advertising materials for the one man play 'A Ferryman's Journey', a biography of William 'Billy' Blue, a convict turned ferryman who was transported to Sydney on the First Fleet.

For this project I chose a poster and a four tile Instagram carousel. The poster was created with two variants, one with a convict's letter from near the time and one with a letter by Governor Lachlan MacQuarie, who had befriended Billy. The design of the poster reflects elements of the story and Billy's later life including dementia and is based on Saul Bass' poster for the Hitchcock movie 'Vertigo'.
